The Grintovec mountain running race is an extreme race reserved for kings of the heights (2184m). Running to the very heart of Grintovec and reaching its peak is a challenge and a self fight for every participant. And becoming the king of Grintovec is a dream for every mountain runner.
Terms of participation
The 12thGrintovec mountain running race is organized in co-operation with athletic federation of Slovenia / Mountain running association,
WMRA and IAAF.
- national championships and Slovenian MR Cup - runners will compete in 14 categories on 4 different courses according to the national rules for those races (from junior children to older seniors).
Date: Sunday, 26th July 2009 Venue/place: Slovenia, Kamniška Bistrica (mountain hut - 600m) Start: at 9:00 am for women and men Finish: Grintovec summit (2558m) Time limit : time is limited to 150 minutes maximum. There will be course afficials along the course who will inform the runners about their current time.

Each runner runs on his/her own risk. In any case of emergency all possible aid will be provided. The most critical points of the track will be controlled by special controllers. They will guarantee runners security being linked with radio communication.
The transport of the equipment
Each participant's equipment can be taken up to Kokrsko sedlo by telepher line, 30 minutes before the start of the race.
Announcement of results
will be in Kamniška Bistrica at 3 pm (near start area).
Entries
for the competition will be accepted from 10th July to 24th July 2009 by post, fax, e-mail or online by web. Entry fee
could be payed on the day of the race in euros of Slovene tolars:
categories (M1 - M3, Z1 - Z3): 5 EUR
categories (M4-M7, Z4 - Z7): 15 EUR
entries on a day of race: 20 EUR
Each runner will get a number which will be returned after race and a ticket for a stew.
The fund of awards is 12000 EUR!
Organizer will provide:
medals of Grintovec race for the best three placed and the cup for the winner in categorie men and women
the first three runners in each category will get practical awards
free acomodation for invited teams and individuals
each runner will get a memorial present and admission
money awards will be presented to the first 15 men and 7 women absolute

If the weather will be full bad (stormy weather, fog as thick as pea-sup), the organizer can shorten the track! Skiing and other stick are not allowed!
How can you go on race
Kamniška Bistrica is 30 km to the north of Ljubljana. From Germany an Austria you can easy reach the places of both events by entering Slovenia via Villach and Karavankentunnel or Klagenfurt and Loibelpass (or Seebergsatell). Then follow motorway passing Kranj, for Grintovec use exit Airport - Brnik. For Grintovec follow direction Kamnik (15 km from exit) and Kamniška Bistrica (10 km). In the clear weather all the time diving from Kranj you can watch Grintovec on your left - the highest mountain, like a pyramid.
